AIDS, Abstinenz und Yoda

Schwerer Rückschlag für Moral und Glauben! Die Wissenschaft straft Aussagen von Papst und Evangelikalen (und EvangeligalInnen?) lügen. Wieder einmal.

Eine Infektion mit HIV und dem, in Entwicklungs- und Schwellenländern fast sicher darauf folgenden AIDS, sei durch Abstinenz und Treue zu verhindern. So predigen Glaubensvertreter seit Jahrzehnten von ihren Kanzeln und dem Petersplatz. In den USA gerne ergänzt durch einen ähnlichen Tipp, um ungewollte Schwangerschaften zu vermeiden. Auch wenn diese Aussage natürlich faktisch richtig ist, verhindert der Tipp nicht eine HIV-Infektion (oder Schwangerschaft). Das zumindest war meine Meinung und die Meinung vieler Menschen, die menschliche Triebe weltlich betrachten.

Und nun hat eine Studie genau diese Alltagsweisheit bestätigt. Auch das gibt es. Im Gegensatz zur Alltagsweisheit, die Erde sei flach, die weiterhin falsch ist (und bleibt, sorry Xavier). Der Rat an uns kaum behaarte Primaten, keinen Sex zu haben oder treu zu bleiben, um die Verbreitung von HIV zu verhindern und ungewollte Schwangerschaften zu verhindern, führt zum Gegenteil.

Die Studie sollte einen Teil von PEPFAR evaluieren. PEPFAR ist ein von George W. Bush initiiertes Programm gegen die Ausbreitung von HIV in Entwicklungsländern. Ein Teil der Gelder aus diesem Programm wurde für die Propagierung von Abstinenzprogrammen genutzt. Als wiedergeborener Christ war das George W. sicher eine Herzensangelegenheit. Nun, das Geld hätte er sich sparen können. Wenn es zu Beginn des Programm noch keine Belege für die oben genannte Alltagsweisheit gab (?), so gibt es sie jetzt. Nun kann das Geld also sinnvoll eingesetzt werden. Auch gegen Teenagerschwangerschaften in den USA wirken übrigens Abstinenzratschläge nicht.

Insgesamt war übrigens PEPFAR ein Erfolg und konnte, durch die sinnvollen Interventionen Leben retten und verbessern. Natürlich wirkt Abstinenz gegen die Infektion mit HIV und ungewollte Schwangerschaften. Leider sehen viele, spirituell sehr fähige, in der Lebenswirklichkeit ihrer Artgenossen jedoch eher unbeleckte, ältere Herren nicht, dass zwischen Abstinenzratschlag und Abstinenz etwas steht. Für den auch weiterhin dogmatisch sprechenden Papst und seine Freunde vom anderen Ufer sei dies, in Anlehnung an Meister Yoda, wie folgt illustriert: „Big, the urge to fuck is in this one.
